BMA GCM Surface & Underground

Notes: Effective 13 October, 2009 the site specific induction for Gregory Site and Crinum
Site will be combined and known as the Gregory Crinum Mine (GCM) Induction. Those mineworkers needing to go underground will now require 4 days with Lennon's to cover the theory for Gregory & Crinum, additional BMA Corporate material and Site Familiarisations for both Surface and Underground areas.
The BMA Surface induction done by SGS must be done before sitting the
GCM Induction. It is a prerequisite.

Notes: This supervisor course, formerly known as QMS123 are three competencies required by all those who are in supervisory positions within the coal mining industry. As of November 2006, the three competencies S1, S2, S3 are known as the coal compentencies MNC.G1001.A Apply the risk management process; MNC.G1008.A Conduct safety and health investigations and MNC.G1009.A Communicate information. This is a two-day course held generally every fortnight on various weekdays. Bookings are essential.

Work Safely at Heights

Description: This training will cover the critical aspects of the competency MNM.G237.A which include:
- knowledge of all procedures, requirements and instructions to work safely at heights appropriate to a site;
- implementation of appropriate procedures and techniques for efficient and effective working safely at heights appropriate to a site, while complying with site risk control;
- health & safety, environmental, quality & communication requirements. This includes:
a. identifying work requirements
b. preparing for work
c. accessing work area
d. performing work at heights
e. cleaning up work area
Notes: When deemed competent, participants will be awarded a Statement of Attainment in partial completion of the qualification MNM20106 Certificate II in Metalliferous Mining Operations (Open Cut).
